Master Social Media in 15 Minutes Or Less!

Social media is a power tool – most businesses have recognized the worth of jumping on the facebook/pinterest/twitter bandwagon and are reaping the results… but it shouldn’t take up more than 15 minutes of your day!

We at BrainSell have a system down to ensure we aren’t spending too much of our time on social media posting in a day – there are so many great and FREE tools out there to help you automate your social interactions, you’d be crazy not to take advantage of them. We have helped lots of our customers manage their inbound marketing/social presence and we thought it was about time we shared our process with the wider public.

Social Media Monitoring Tools:

BrainSell uses a few great social media monitoring tools to help us out on a daily basis.

The first, and arguably our favorite is bufferapp - it let’s us post on Facebook/LinkedIn/Twitter all at once, and they just added a new Google+ capability, which rocks. Buffer is really easy to use and really powerful, it lets us post from all our social media accounts at the same time on any webpage. But the really great functionality is that you can ‘load’ your buffer app in the morning (say over your morning coffee?) with posts you want to go out throughout the day on your social media platforms and you’re done! You can customize the times you would like the posts to go out and relax, knowing you’ve taken care of your postings in the morning. BufferApp really lets you become a thought leader, and frees up lots of time for other things. Throughout the day you can post interesting blogs or articles you come across – with their ‘share now’ button, or you can load into the BufferApp to share later.

BufferApp is free and easy to get started with – once you activate the app on your internet browser you will see the BufferApp icon in the top right hand corner, it looks like this:

Our second favorite social media monitoring tool is TweetDeck or HooteSuite (they’re so similar it’s hard to choose). Both of these work in same way towards the same goal – the only difference being HooteSuite has a few more bells and whistles.

Both TweetDeck and HooteSuite allow you to set up all your social media accounts in one place and set alerts on different keywords, hashtags and handles. This is a great way to stay connected with your customer base and be alerted of conversations in real time that mention you, your company or a keyword/issue of interest. For example – we are alerted when anyone mentions us @Brainsell because we have set up an alert through TweetDeck – here’s a screenshot:

As you can see from above we can literally track everyone that mentions us – and use that to react and engage with our customer base, prospects and vendors. We like to stay on top of social media – but we don’t like it to monopolize all our time!

HOT New Social Media Product: We’ve got it!

insideview and brainsellBrainSell is so into social media that we’ve partnered with the very cool social media company, InsideView.

InsideView, located in San Francisco, has a great little product, SalesView. SalesView can integrate into SugarCRM and find social media connections and news.

Let’s face it, one can waste hours scouring social media sites, blogs and general news sites for mentions of their competitors, leads, customers and THEMSELVES. SalesView monitors thousands of sources relentlessly for that information. You can sit back and see the buzz happen right from SugarCRM.

That’s right, at BrainSell we’re eating our own dog food, and loving it!

This whole social media thing has got us buzzing. After we read Inbound Marketing; it was clear that our marketing methods needed to change. We planned our Accelerator event with SugarCRM around Social Media. That was step 1. We’ve been pumped about the agenda for months!

A funny thing happened on the way to the SugarCRM Forum

What happened to me on the way to creating this event on Social Media. Life… It’s all about timing!

Here’s our story. The agenda we’ve created happened post being asked by SugarCRM to be the host for their Accelerator Event promoting SugarCRM. Events like these are designed to introduce technology and find interested buyers .

However, I had just read “Inbound Marketing” by co author Dharmesh Shah (check him out on LinkedIn) whose company is in Cambridge (Hubspot) and has MIT educational pedigree. I suggest you too read this book. Personally, my thinking about marketing changed. Let me just say, you have to “give” to “get”. And I had an “aha” moment post reading Inbound Marketing.

Before I read this book my opinion of Social Media was at best skeptical. I wondered if skepticism was based on perspective and generation (ok my age)! I just didn’t get how Social Media could impact business sales.

For me the next step was monumental! As soon as I completed this book I hired someone (an ex journalist – not your typical marketer) to run an Inbound Marketing program.  For me, this was monumental.  To hire someone to focus ONLY on Inbound Marketing strategies? If you knew me, you’d know how conservative I am.  Let me repeat, I hired someone to work with a media that I had been so skeptical about.  And now I’m absolutely convinced you must have an Inbound Marketing program to be relevant and to effectively find new business.  Traditional interruptive marketing no longer works all by itself!

So the event… I felt so strongly about the contents of Dharmesh’s book that I took an entirely different approach suggested by SugarCRM for the event agenda. I wanted to deliver “remarkable content” to our attendees.  I wanted to “give” to “get”  (all part of Inbound Marketing concepts).

Frankly, this approach just feels right.  The content and agenda is genuine and authentic.  Those that attend the Boston event are attending the first of, what I believe, is a message that needs to travel across the US.  I wanted to create something that was worth paying for…

Even if you don’t attend our event  read “Inbound Marketing” and help your business find new opportunities in a changed marketing world. Have your own “aha” moment.

Hilton Boston/Woburn, Fresh Place for Social Media Event – Bring Your Swim Trunks!

Here at BrainSell, we’re pretty pumped about our upcoming SugarCRM Accelerator eventon March 23. We chose the Hilton Boston/Woburn for the location, facility and indoor pool.

Well ok, the pool isn’t that important, but it’s gorgeous! The event starts at 8:30 am, so we can all avoid traffic, and have a networking breakfast before Dharmesh Shah of Hubspot gives the keynote at 9:15 am. Don’t forget to bring your copy of Inbound Marketing! Dharmesh will be signing copies when the event is over at noon.

After seeing this Vegas-Style  indoor pool/cabana thing, we’re thinking of spending the night!
