Impulse Buyers Rejoice! eBay Adding Image Recognition To Mobile App

Posted by: Kellie Pitt

Window shopping just got a little more dangerous.

, the San Francisco-based e-auction titan, announced their next big step into the future: image recognition capabilities will now be available via their mobile app.

Much like Google’s Goggles app, shoppers can now snap photos of items they covet – such as a cute dress or a pair of slippers in a shop window, and eBay will search for the exact or similar items for sale on their site. This means shoppers with a smartphone and a little patience no longer have to wait until they get back to their PC or laptop to compare prices.

Speaking in San Francisco Wednesday, eBay CEO John Donahoe said the company is planning to have the feature available by the end of this year.

It’s not clear yet, however, which of eBay’s apps will get the new feature.  eBay isn’t revealing yet whether the image-recognition package will work on all items or just certain things.

One things for sure: my eBay addiction just got worse.

Nice knowin' ya, crazed mob of shoppers!

Stay tuned to get more info about this awesome new development, plus many more, by clicking here!

SugarCRM’s New Subscription Levels (offer)

Posted by: Sonja Fridell

Sugar 6.2 mobileSugar has added 2 more subscription levels. Don’t fear, Pro and Enterprise haven’t lost any features, and they’re still the same price. Actually, they’ve added some features to them. Corporate and Ultimate were created to offer new functionality, like enhanced support, offline mobile, and all-around better mobile (BlackBerry, Droid, iPad are now supported, and beefed up).

Now until the end of June, new customers can get Sugar Corporate for the price of Pro. That’s a savings of $180 per user! Let us know if you’re interested.

This is a great promo, I absolutely encourage it. The biggest thing in Corporate is enhanced mobile. You can get your CRM data OFFLINE on your phone with this! The faster support time is nice too. I’ve hardly ever seen people surpass the data storage limit on Pro, before now was 1 GB per instance, and now it’s 30GB on Corporate, so now you’ll never go over!

Between Corporate and Enterprise… The BIG thing is the support portal. You can have your customers log into a 3rd party site to see their open “cases” and make notes. There is no limit on number of portal users. It’s pretty cool to have that kind of tool for your customers, if you have use for it. There is also more storage, 60 GB, daily data back-ups, support for Oracle, DB2, and a Lotus Notes Plug In. You get PHONE support with Enterprise and Ultimate, that’s awesome

Ultimate has tons of storage, 250 GB, 5 sandboxes for dev. And your own, dedicated server. There is also a Domino Server Connector. Phone support, 1 hr response time, developer support (awesome) and the support is 24X7.

Prices:

Professional: $30/user/month ($360/user/year)

Corporate: $45/user/month ($540/user/year)

Enterprise: $60/user/month ($720/user/year)

Ultimate: $100/user/month ($1200/user/year)

More info on the editions…

  • Sugar Corporate – with advanced mobile capabilities for the workforce that needs CRM access from the road, and even while offline.

Mobile CRM, Tablet vs iPad vs Smartphone

Posted by: Ross Jones

mobile crmDespite the early nay-sayers, Apple’s iPad seems to be getting a lot of traction – not just in the home/leisure market segment, but also in the commercial arena, with more and more companies who have staff who travel frequently opting for a lighter weight portable computer. And by computer what exactly do we mean nowadays? You could argue that an iPhone is a computer, as is a Droid, and the iPad; after all each of these devices does a whole more than simply make a phone call…

But the purpose of this post is to look at CRM on a Mobile device. Speaking with colleagues and clients, it appears that with the Android platform and iOS from Apple, mobility has finally come of age. Now perhaps is the right time to consider CRM as a viable application that can function well on a mobile device.

With the advent of HTML5, and its adoption by most (if not all) mobile device browsers, the serving-up of CRM data onto a hand-held device is now fast enough to allow for a true CRM ‘App.’ for Mobile. HTML5, which is still being developed, is the latest version of the standard web language HTML, and will bring enhanced functionality to everyone’s web browsing experience (apparently..!).

Sage Software is making available in just a few weeks time their HTML5 version of SalesLogix CRM; this could be game-changer. But no doubt, time will tell…

SugarCRM iPhone App is Out!

That’s right, SugarCRM has finally released their long-awaited iPhone app. The catch… it’s just for Enterprise users right now. Hopefully they’ll open it up to Pro users soon. For all of you Pro users, you can still access your Sugar instance via Safari, it’s made for the web, so it still looks awesome.

Ok, enough with the gottchas, here’s the good stuff…

  • You can view, EDIT, and easily search records from your phone
  • It’s FREE
  • Compatible with iPhone, iTouch, or iPad
  • When you place a call from a record, you can LOG THE CALL from your phone! Very nifty
  • Activities can be recorded too

Check out more screen shots and details on their listing on iTunes.

SalesLogix for the iPad, CRM Adoption Magic

saleslogix for ipad

SalesLogix homescreen on the iPad

Apple has inspired a lot of people lately. Their much hyped release of the iPad has made many people rethink the way they do business. One of those people is Mike Ladd, President & CEO of Euchner-USA.

Euchner makes safety switches and automation systems for a variety of industries. Ladd’s salespeople are constantly traveling, so entering notes in a CRM system is imperative to track all of those on site visits. Ladd understands the value of CRM, and he has been disappointed with user adoption. He hopes to change all of that with SalesLogix Web on the iPad.

“There is a tremendous amount of good information in SalesLogix,” said Ladd. However, Euchner has been using SalesLogix LAN version. His salespeople are less inclined to use CRM on the road since SalesLogix can only be accessed through a cumbersome laptop.

“Their notes aren’t good because they save them up for the end of the week,” said Ladd. “They take notes on the back of a business card and then try to replicate them in SalesLogix. A lot gets left out.”

Those days will soon be over. SalesLogix has a few different deployment options now; SAAS, Web and LAN. Euchner is deploying SalesLogix Web in a few weeks. Their LAN instance will now be accessible through a unique URL.

Ladd has had an iPad for a while now and he’s convinced that SalesLogix on the iPad will encourage his sales team to take notes when they’re on site. Ladd expects SalesLogix on the iPad will generate better reporting, streamline the sales process better and save a tremendous amount of time.

“The value of SalesLogix is built for this,” said Ladd about the iPad. “My sales people can look at history notes in SalesLogix and they’ll be better prepared. The iPad is fun to use, and if it’s fun, people will use it more.”

Sage has a mobile strategy and it’s pretty great - Here’s a peek at the Accpac interface, due for release when Accpac v6 comes out this December.

Mobile phones like the iPhone allow you to run web sites in the same manner you run native applications. So you can add an icon to the phone’s home page and then run your web based application.

Sage is working on the “Accpac Mobile Desktop” to launch various data portlets This lets a user see various dashboards in real time from their phone.

 Let’s take a tour…
