NetSuite ERP vs. Microsoft Dynamics GP Comparison:

1. NetSuite ERP — NetSuite ERP provides comprehensive, integrated cloud-based business software. Not only does NetSuite work as an accounting tool, NetSuite also comes with built in marketing and CRM tools (they still cost extra). NetSuite is more often used by larger, enterprise level companies vs. Dynamics GP. For a full comparison between NetSuite and Intacct, read on below!

In short, NetSuite is a very good all-in-one tool not just for accounting, but also as your customer database (CRM) and marketing center. According to G2 Crowd, NetSuite also has a larger average-user size than Dynamics GP (85 percent mid-market and enterprise-level users), but Dynamics GP does hold its own as an enterprise-level product (14% enterprise-level usership). Visually, NetSuite’s dashboards have an extremely rich set of features, one of which being role-based views, which allow the product to behave completely differently based on who is using it (a marketer would get a different dashboard than a controller or a salesperson).

“Roles make your life easier by streamlining security administration. In fact, ease of administration is the primary reason that role-based models were created.” – NetSuite for Dummies

2. Microsoft Dynamics GP— First and foremost, and perhaps the biggest difference versus NetSuite (other than that NetSuite is an “all-in-one” product) is that Dynamics GP is usually deployed on-premise, and not in the cloud. NetSuite is only deployable in the cloud. In comparison to NetSuite, Dynamics GP is also utilized much more heavily by small and midsize businesses (84 percent small and midsize businesses according to G2 Source). Dynamics GP can be cheaper than NetSuite under most circumstances, unless you have loads of NetSuite add-ons. NetSuite has many add-on products that can push up the cost per month or cost per year. As you can see, NetSuite’s dashboard is graphically similar to Dynamics GP (pictured below) when it comes to accounting practices (general ledger, inventory, etc.), but NetSuite also includes options for marketing and sales.

In short, Dynamics GP has all the accounting features you would expect in world-class ERP software, but needs to be integrated to all your other tools (like CRM and marketing tools). Unless you are going to use other Microsoft products (i.e. Microsoft Dynamics CRM), you may find that Dynamics GP doesn’t integrate as well.
