Despite the early nay-sayers, Apple’s iPad seems to be getting a lot of traction – not just in the home/leisure market segment, but also in the commercial arena, with more and more companies who have staff who travel frequently opting for a lighter weight portable computer. And by computer what exactly do we mean nowadays? You could argue that an iPhone is a computer, as is a Droid, and the iPad; after all each of these devices does a whole more than simply make a phone call…
But the purpose of this post is to look at CRM on a Mobile device. Speaking with colleagues and clients, it appears that with the Android platform and iOS from Apple, mobility has finally come of age. Now perhaps is the right time to consider CRM as a viable application that can function well on a mobile device.
With the advent of HTML5, and its adoption by most (if not all) mobile device browsers, the serving-up of CRM data onto a hand-held device is now fast enough to allow for a true CRM ‘App.’ for Mobile. HTML5, which is still being developed, is the latest version of the standard web language HTML, and will bring enhanced functionality to everyone’s web browsing experience (apparently..!).
Sage Software is making available in just a few weeks time their HTML5 version of SalesLogix CRM; this could be game-changer. But no doubt, time will tell…
